We're Not So Different You and I
The business world today is about two things: speed and creativity.
We must make decisions fast, adapt quickly to changing stimuli, and be on the cusp of original ideas. I've spend my life flying by the seat of my pants on stage. My motto is "Follow the fear." What are you most afraid of doing? Then, I do that.
In business, we are often faced with managerial tasks. If this happens, then I do this. If that happens, I do that. The playbook is laid out for us and like a classic Alabama quarterback we do not drift far from the path. But is that leadership?
What happens when you are presented with a challenge in the moment? What do you do when an adaptive crisis emerges?
Improv is my favorite tool to teach because it frees us from the shackles of stereotypes. Good improv is not about being funny, it's about thinking on your feet. Good business is not about staying the course, its about adapting to your given circumstances.
In this 1-3 hour long class, I use the principles of improv such as Yes, and..., Bring a Brick, and Follow the Fear to teach classmates how to bring play to their work.
